Preparing for a Gap Year

sue-head-shotPreparing for a Gap Year

This course provides an overview of common health issues that can arise during a GAP year overseas. The course will advise participants about possible living and working conditions, and possible health problems and how they can be prevented and addressed. The course includes sexual health, communicable diseases, personal safety, and wellbeing. The course draws on many years of experience of living and working in Africa, and an understanding of likely problems, the kinds of services available from local health service and conditions GAP year students are likely to experience. Sue Campbell has spent years in Africa, teaching nurses as a clinical tutor and training in first aid for nationals and expatriates. With this experience she is well placed to provide advice on what problems GAP year travellers may face, how they can be avoided, and what to do if the worst happens.
